Recently discovered under a stack of old Jet magazines in El Segundo, California, this poem is one of the earliest known examples of a “crappy take on ee cummings.” Dating to the seventh century BC, it anticipates many of the elements of both ee cummings’ poetry and modern society, including the widespread use of the English language and the existence of former NBA star George Mikan. Enjoy at your peril.
ee cummings never used capitals
if he used ms word
it would auto-correct
his poems
maybe he would not have been so popular
what with the capitals and all
eh?
ee cummings lived long ago
in an era without spell-check
or word processors
maybe he would have been more popular
if he had used spell-check
eh?
ee cummings never flew on a private jet
or watched michael jordan
and he never tasted a modern twist on thai cuisine
he had to ride in buggies
and watch george mikan
and eat haggis for every meal
eh?
taking the time to rubberneck at a popwell has never, nor will ever, be time wasted.
eh?
