My Memorable Movie Moments, Pt. II: #26-50

So a couple years ago, at the onset of what would turn out to be two+ years of fear and loathing, I posted a piece titled My Memorable Movie Moments. Inspired by a similar list in Patton Oswald’s Silver Screen Fiend, it listed the first 25 of what was to be 100 of my own indelible movie moments—scenes, lines, characters, or even just shots that have stayed with me from various films. They’re not even all from fantastic films, but represent a singular moment that I will always be able to picture in my mind.

Anyway, a couple year’s worth of bullshit and tragedy happened right after I published that list, and I never quite got around to posting my next 25 moments. A breathless nation awaits, so with no further ado, and in absolutely no particular order, are 25 more bits of flicks that I can’t forget (complete with YouTube links to most of them):

The wordless heist in Rififi.

The male strip club scene in Bad Grandpa.

The bounty killers getting the drop on Silence in the finale of The Great Silence.

The king, riddled with arrows, in Throne of Blood. (left)

Ripley’s harrowing run to retrieve the ship’s cat right as she’s getting ready to escape in Alien.

Salma Hayek’s dance in From Dusk Til Dawn.

The old Jewish man’s corny joke about the waiter and the soup at the end of Coming to America.

The boat crew’s LSD-tinged border crossing in Apocalypse Now.

The elegy for the fallen foreign soldier in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Freud’s corn dog drooping when the mall girls make fun of him in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

Bill Murray’s insane motivational speech in Meatballs.

Samuel L. Jackson gets his wallet back from Tim Roth in Pulp Fiction.

The luggage falling open and cash blowing away in the propeller wash in The Killing.

The first time the new Terminator re-forms in Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

Robert Mitchum’s first encounter with Jane Greer, “coming out of the sun” in Out of the Past.

Aguirre (Klaus Kinski) madly wandering his sinking raft as it gets overtaken by monkeys in Aguirre, the Wrath of God.

Gene Hackman sitting on a chair playing the saxophone, in the ruins of the apartment he’s just destroyed in The Conversation.

The “crushing on Nixon” montage in Dick.

Conner4Real explaining “this is what it’s all about” in the backseat of the limo in Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

The suspended cages in Time Bandits. (at right)

The spinning top at the end of Inception.

Jackie Chan stopping the bus in Police Story.

Tom Cruise’s antics outside the Burj Khalifa in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

The “bad phone message” scene in Swingers.

Patrick Swayze’s angry roller disco number in Skatetown USA.

I’ll post the next 25 in less than 26 months, that much I can promise!
